Substitute Information

Thank you for your interest in being a substitute teacher at Yukon Public Schools. All substitutes are required to be at least 21 years of age, attend a scheduled substitute workshop, submit the required background check, and complete all required paperwork before being allowed to substitute in our District.

Yukon Public Schools has scheduled several workshops throughout the school year to train substitutes.  All workshops are held in the Board Room at the Yukon Schools Administration Building located at 600 Maple Street, Yukon, OK 73099 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.  No reservations are required to attend a substitute workshop. Available dates are listed at the bottom of this page.

Requirements for Substitute Workshops

Please bring or complete the following items with you if you plan to attend one of our workshops:

  • Two forms of ID:  
    • One document to establish identity (Driver's License, Military ID, School ID, Passport)
    • One document to establish employment eligibility (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Passport)
    • I-9 Form completed with the 2 forms of ID. (Employment Eligibility Verification) This will be available at workshops.
    • 4-year college transcript: to be eligible to work 145 school days (if applicable); otherwise you are only eligible to work 135 days.
    • Current Oklahoma teaching certificate (if applicable)
      You will need to have a copy of your current teaching certificate on file to earn the certified teacher substitute pay rate.

How to Apply

Please complete the following items in addition to attending the substitute workshop:

  • ​Background checks are a requirement for all new substitutes.,
    • ​A national criminal history record check and fingerprinting ($59 fee) are required by the State of Oklahoma and must be updated annually (unless otherwise noted).
    • To get started you may download, complete and take the form to the OK State Department of Education. Download the form here: OSBI Background Form.   
    • You will be given instructions and a copy of the form, if necessary, at the substitute workshop.

All applicants are required to stay for the entire training period. The training will begin promptly at the scheduled times. We request that no children be brought to the training.
